There were a few valve amp builders around Australia in the1960s, including Brisbane's Trent. The operation was owned by Steck Piano Company and made amps always dressed in fetching red tolex. This one is a 4x12" combo.... sensibilities have changed a little over the years, but heck, what a format. It's a pretty simple set of controls: volume, three band EQ and tremolo speed and depth. The tremolo is a gorgeous subtle harmonic affair, which sounds terrific. There's plenty of clean headroom on offer, although with the volume above halfway the tone warms up around the edges nicely. It's a fat, expansive, rich tone with a sweet gooey texture through the mids, it's very enjoyable. If a local Taswegian could buy this and come collect it, that would be great: it's heavy as heck, but we'll ship it if we have to.
