Fender Kingfish Telecaster Deluxe Mississippi Night 2023
Fender Kingfish Tele, purple sparkle, made in USA 2023. Christone 'Kingfish' Ingram is a modern blues legend despite his mere 27 years. I remember first seeing him on an episode of Marvel's Luke Cage; the combination of amazing speed and fluency with superb musical touch certainly made an impression. His signature model is based off the 1972 Telecaster Deluxe, but with a soft-V neck, 12" radius for easy bends, custom pickups and an Adjust-O-Matic bridge with stop tail piece. The bridge makes for easy and accurate intonation adjustments, and also adds a little attack and removes a little sustain from the envelope,, so it has an almost Strat-like quality to the feel. The neck feels great too, it's very intuitive. The pickups offer a defined contrast: the neck is plump and gooey, with a warm bass and a low-midrange focus; great with fuzz or for jazzy cleans. The bridge is much brighter, with a snarling high-midrange snap and a bristling treble. You can roll off the tone for a smooth clean, but it really loves a driven amp and growls and barks with enthusiasm. The finish is amazing too, it's called Mississippi Night and kinda looks like a metallic Cadbury purple... perfect. Kingfish is the man, and this is suitably swagtastic.
