Fender Japan Telecaster TL62-75 Charcoal Burst 1993

Fender '62 Telecaster, Charcoal Burst, made in Japan 1993. This is a tip top Tele, it's a tasty time. The 1962 version of the Telecaster got the spaghetti logo, a slab rosewood fretboard, slim C shape neck, three-steel-saddle bridge and a pair of single coils, so this model got all that as tribute. This one has had a one ply 50s-style black pickguard attached, which lends a clean and classy look. The Charcoal Burst finish is an era-specific touch: the Fujigen factory only did it for a couple of years. They took an American Basswood body, which worked well for the purpose, and accentuated the grain lines and curves with a blow torch, before spraying it up with a vintage tinted lacquer. This is a more subtle example, but dang: it has that classy creme caramel hue to it. The sound on offer is great: warm and jangly with a pleasing complexity and breathiness through the midrange, and plenty of complementary contrast between the two pickups. If you're after a classic T-style twanger with plenty of charm, this wins.
