Squier Japan Silver Series Stratocaster SST33 Black 1993

Squier SST33 Silver Series Strat, made in Japan in 1992-3, black. The Silver Series heralded a return to Japanese manufacturing for Squier, and were very well received at the time owing to the excellent build quality from the legendary Fujigen factory. This one is in great shape and is playing super smoothly: the neck is a delight with a super agreeable vintage C shape and satin finish, the body is lightweight and resonant and the hardware holds everything together nicely. The pickups have been swapped for some unknown single coils, but they sound great. They've got metal surrounds  to lower the noise floor and offer a tone in the same ballpark as the fat lipstick pickups you get on a Danelectro. It sounds epic, with a weighty low end kick and shining highs. Plus, if you're not into it, it's hard to find a better mod-platform than these Silver Series guitars, the necks and bodies are so good. Schwing!
