Fender Japan Stratocaster ST62-650 Vintage White 1990
Fender '62 Strat, Vintage White, made in Japan 1990-1. We love a white Strat around here, and this is a cool one for sure. It's 35+ years old and was made at the excellent Fujigen Gakki factory. The headline specs reference the original 1962 version: small headstock, gold spaghetti logo, Kluson-style tuners, slab rosewood fretboard, slim C shape neck, three ply guard, stamped saddles... lots of good stuff. This model had an alder body and USA pickups without the reverse wound middle, so it got a three-way switch from factory. It sounds great: thick and swampy on the lows, warm gooey mids and a pleasant chime on top. The neck is really something: very dark rosewood paired with a very lightly flamed piece of maple, carved to a super comfy vintage C with frets that have weathered the decades beautifully. It feels fantastic to play, it's lightweight, lively and very comfy. The finish has some sticker fade marks, which I kinda enjoy, as well as various other telltale signs of singing for it's supper for several years now. This is a great take on the classic genre.
